Alyce Finwall - Director

Alyce (pronounced like Elise) is director and part owner at Moving Arts Studio and director of Alyce Finwall Dance Theater, and is an American Ballet Theatre certified teacher. Alyce spent most of her youth equally endeavored in both dance and gymnastics, spending countless, glorious hours in both the dance studio and the gym. She was an All-American gymnast, then after an injury, started to focus on dance as a means for expression and her irresistible urge to move. Alyce’s wide ranging dance career began after a brief hiatus from dance to study art (with a focus on painting and printmaking) and communications theory at Hamline University. She has worked with the Minneapolis based avant-garde ballet company, Ballet of the Dolls, where she performed in over 20 original ballets in her six years with the company and was its first ever guest choreographer. She has also danced for Rincones & Company in Washington, DC, performing at the Kennedy Center and regional theaters while also teaching DC area school children creative movement, and in New York City for independent choreographers as well as producing and dancing in her own work. She has studied with the Cullberg Ballet in Sweden (under invitation from artistic director Lena Wennergren-Juras), the Cunningham Dance Company (with a travel/study grant from the Jerome Foundation) and with many teachers of ballet and contemporary techniques in NYC, Minneapolis, DC and San Francisco. Her work has been presented at such venues as P.S. 122, The Joyce SoHo, Dance Theater Workshop (New York Live Arts), Dixon Place, 92nd Street Y on 42nd Street, Cunningham Theater, White Wave Theater, The Cowell Theater, The Southern Theater, The Garage Theater and the American Dance Festival and Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Alyce has also taught and choreographed for college and pre-professional programs such as the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, Radford University, Cedar Crest College and Mills College. Katie Meyers - Dance

A native of Chicago, Katie trained under Summer Lee Rhatigan at the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, she has had the immense pleasure to perform the repertory of Ohad Naharin, Bobbi Jene Smith and Tom Weinberger. Prior to her time at the Conservatory, Katie had the great fortune to train in Portland, Jerusalem and Salt Lake City where she was able to perform work by Andrea Miller, Noa Wherteim, and Ching Ching Wong. Katie dances with Alyce Finwall Dance Theater.

Katie is an ABT® Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 3 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum.

Meghan Murphy - Yoga

Meghan started practicing yoga over 10 years ago, loving the challenge of hot power flow. Over the years, the asana led her to discover the balance of physical and spiritual practice. Wanting to share the transformative poser of yoga with others, she completed her 200 RYT training at the Asheville Yoga Center. Join Meghan for a challenging and nourishing Vinyasa flow.

Stacy Tumarkin - Yoga

Stacy Tumarkin began her journey into yoga in 2008 as a means of balancing her frantic career in finance, and immediately fell in love with both the physicality and the mental benefits of the practice. She believes yoga, at its core, is a collection of non dogmatic practices designed to challenge the body, quiet the mind, and open the heart, and loves to share her passion for its many facets and applications with her students. With roots in alignment, bhakti (the yoga of devotion), and vinyasa flow, Stacy's classes are upbeat, soulful, and sequenced to inspire inquisitiveness and exploration in a safe and nurturing environment. Stacy completed her 200 hour RYT training with local legend Rusty Wells, and has since studied with Jason Crandall, Noah Mazé, Luke Ketterhagen, and Sean Haleen. She holds an MBA from University of Chicago and a BA in Economics from UC Santa Barbara; her corporate and studio classes alike maintain a theme of uniting yogic concepts with the realities of everyday life.

Yana Ibrahim - Yoga

Yana Ibrahim is a certified personal trainer with American Council on Exercise (ACE) and is a certified Level 1 Prenatal Yoga Teacher with MamaTree. She is classically trained in Hatha Yoga and received her 200HR Yoga Instructor certification through SVYASA Yoga Institute. She has a Bachelor Degree in Exercise & Sports Science (Edith Cowan University) and has taught many fitness classes over the years. She started teaching fitness bootcamp classes in 2008 and is passionate in helping her clients move and feel better! Follow her on Instagram: @YogawithYana or @DoulainSF.

Christine Armand - Drama

Christine has been teaching drama to elementary students for more than 15 years. She is a trained performer, published playwright and dynamic instructor, who is dedicated to the arts as a teaching tool. She has a master’s degree in theater from SFSU and has run her own week-long Creative Storytelling camps. She has worked at many diverse schools in the Bay Area, guiding students to wholeheartedly express themselves in the dramatic arts. A well-rounded theatrical artist herself, Christine  has performed in many Bay Area shows and has travelled to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where she starred in an original play. She is most proud of her own troupe, The Momma Drama, where she produces, directs, and performs in a popular play that she co-wrote about motherhood, called “Stretchmarks”. The play has enjoyed many sold-out shows in San Francisco, and has even travelled to the East Coast for a smashing debut. One of her favorite things in life is to help children learn how to be heART-centered and to blossom creatively in this lovely journey called LIFE.

Julian Castro - Teaching Assistant

Julian assists in Pre-Primary to Primary B level ballet classes, as well as Acrobatics. She is senior in high school, plays the clarinet, and the students LOVE her!

Rou Rou Hutchinson - Teaching Assistant

Rou Rou is an incoming 10th grader at City Arts and Tech High School. At age 4 Rou Rou began her ballet studies and she is currently studying under Alyce at Moving Arts Studio. In addition to ballet, Rou Rou has studied tap, hip hop, flamenco, jazz and contemporary. Rou Rou loves musical theater, and is a member of the Young Peoples Teen Musical Theater Company. This year she performed in The Addams Family as an ancestor. Past musical theater performances have included The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and The Jewish Nutcracker.
